For the believer whose fear has become a permanent background frequency.
For the believer who is not sure they can believe what they used to believe.
Doubt in a Christian context carries weight because it can feel like betrayal of God, of the community that formed you, of a self that was built around a faith that is now uncertain. The instinct to hide it is strong. Performing certainty while experiencing doubt is its own exhaustion.
This journal establishes doubt as a legitimate theological category rather than trying to resolve it quickly. It is present in the Psalms, present in the Prophets, present in the disciples themselves on the night of the resurrection. It moves through the history of Christian intellectual struggle, from Augustine's restlessness to Aquinas's proofs to the dark night of the soul in mystic tradition, toward a faith that has been tested and held.
The arc draws on the epistemology of faith, the psychology of deconversion and reconversion, spiritual warfare against the believing intellect, and the biblical witness of Thomas, Job, and the disciples who doubted at the ascension (Matthew 28:17) and were commissioned anyway.
